Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact
clubs are self-governed and self-supporting but they are sponsored by individual
Rotary clubs which provide support and guidance.

The very first Interact Club was formed in 1962 by students in Melbourne High
School in Melbourne, Florida, USA. Now, 50 years later, there are over 200 000
Interactors in more than 10,700 clubs over 109 countries. Whilst thousands of
communities around the world have benefited from the service of Interact clubs.

Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of
which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts,
Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn
the importance of :

• Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
• Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
• Advancing international understanding and goodwill

Through Interact, Rotarians are not just helping youth but empowering them to
serve locally and internationally. Interactors have discovered a program that offers
fun, meaningful service activities while providing a chance to develop leadership
